The Municipality is reviewing options to improve safety on Tammy’s Cove Road by addressing an unsafe intersection between 163 and 183 Tammy’s Cove Road. The current access at 164 Tammy’s Cove Road connects parallel to the roadway, which is generally considered less safe than a perpendicular intersection.
We want your feedback! By sharing your concerns, preferences, and potential impacts before any decisions are made, you can help us choose the best option for our community.
Please review the three proposed roadway design options and provide your feedback. Your input will help inform the Municipality’s evaluation and next steps.
Option 1: Realignment and Direct Access
Tammy’s Cove Road would be realigned to the south. The road elevations would be lowered between 161 and 192 Tammy’s Cove Road. The intersection at 164 would be eliminated. Direct access to the realigned roadway would be provided to all properties currently serviced by the lane. “Old Tammy’s Cove Road” would be removed.
Option 2: Realignment, Improved Intersection, and Narrow Lane
Tammy’s Cove Road would be realigned to the south. The road elevations would be lowered between 161 and 192 Tammy’s Cove Road. The intersection at 164 would be eliminated. An improved intersection would be added west of 172 to service 168, 170, 172, 176 178 and 180. A narrow 3.5m wide lane along “Old Tammy’s Cove Road” would be provided for access to 168, 170, and 172. Direct access to the realigned roadway would be provided for 182.
Option 3: Divided Roadway
Tammy’s Cove Road would be divided into two one-way lanes, with turn-around. The westbound lane would be located along “Old Tammy’s Cove Road” (lane). The eastbound lane would be located on or to the south of the existing Tammy’s Cove Road. The new turnaround linking the east and west lanes would be located near 182 and 183. 168, 170, 172, 176, 178, and 180 would have access by the westbound lane only. 165 and 167 would have access by the eastbound lane only. 165 to 180 would have to use the turnaround regularly.
